Description
An independent co-educational school nestled in the picturesque village that shares its name.
Traditions since 1850
Founded by Thomas Stevens in 1850, Bradfield College has evolved significantly while maintaining its commitment to nurturing young minds in the Berkshire countryside. Today, around 810 pupils aged 13 to 18 benefit from a multifaceted education that prepares them for an ever-changing world, building on traditions that span more than a century and a half.
An Idyllic Campus
Set across picturesque grounds in Berkshire, the campus provides an exceptional environment for both academic development and personal growth. Its unique Greek Theatre, affectionately known as “the Greek,” serves as a stunning venue for various events, including the celebrated Greek Play that takes place every three years and showcases student talent while highlighting the institution’s dedication to the arts.
Tailored Learning Programmes
The Faulkner curriculum introduces Year 9 students to essential skills like complex problem-solving and critical thinking across five learning domains. As they progress into Years 10 and 11, pupils follow a core curriculum alongside electives in aesthetics, languages, humanities, and other subjects. Sixth Form students can choose between the International Baccalaureate and A Levels, with additional academic opportunities through the Minerva programme and English as an Additional Language support.
Unparalleled Opportunities
Beyond classroom learning, pupils engage with an extensive co-curricular programme spanning sports, arts, drama, music, and numerous clubs and societies. The Bradfield Diploma encourages participation across ten components, including academic, cultural, and community service activities. Notable sporting achievements complement modern facilities, while a thriving music and arts programme—including All-Steinway status—ensures students develop diverse talents throughout their time here.
A Caring Home Away from Home
Modern boarding houses, including Faulkner House for Year 9 pupils and gender-separated senior houses, create a nurturing environment that fosters personal growth and independence. Day pupils integrate fully into these communities, allowing everyone to experience the vibrant atmosphere and benefit from comprehensive pastoral care that supports their development both inside and outside the classroom.
