Career Guidance and Planning
Career guidance at Bedales School begins early, starting in the 10th grade, known as Block 4. Students are introduced to career concepts through a half-year module, which encourages them to start considering their futures. The program provides practical advice on writing resumes and organizing work experience, and introduces the valuable Old Bedalian (OB) network.
In the 11th grade, or Block 5, students take the MyFutureChoice MyAptitude and MyCareerChoices tests. These assessments help identify A Level combinations that align with individual skills and future aspirations. Each student then participates in a personal interview with a MyFutureChoice specialist, who offers tailored feedback and recommendations.
Sixth Form at Bedales School
In the 12th grade, or 6.1, attention shifts to life beyond Bedales. Students take the MyUniChoices test to explore potential degree options that correspond with their A Level choices. Following this, individual meetings with a MyFutureChoice specialist and the head of the sixth form are arranged to discuss results and future plans.
For students interested in studying in the United States, preparation for the ACT/SAT exams is available. After these exams, UCAS weekends are held where students navigate the university application process and attend workshops on writing personal statements.
Planning for the Future
In the final year, known as 6.2, the focus is on planning future paths. The dedicated and experienced career guidance team supports students through every step of the university application process, including UCAS applications, international applications, or applications to art foundations. For those not intending to go to university, personalized consultations and meetings are arranged to meet individual needs.
