School Boarding Houses

Chigwell School has three boarding houses, each with its own character. Church House, built around 1600, accommodates girls in an atmosphere shaped by adventure and cultural diversity. Hainault House dates back to 1874 and houses boys within its Victorian Gothic walls. The third residence, Harsnett’s, bears the name of Archbishop Samuel Harsnett, who founded the school. Despite their different histories, all three share something essential — a genuine family spirit.

Houseparents know their students well and provide individual support when needed. Annual traditions like decorating houses for Christmas and cooking dinner together on Fridays help build the community’s warmth.
