Role of the Extracurricular Programme
British universities now assess applicants through criteria extending well beyond grades. Following A-level reforms, admissions panels look for breadth of interests and transferable skills, while strong exam results alone no longer guarantee placement at top institutions. Kings London structures its extracurricular programme around these university expectations, offering clubs and projects that demonstrate students’ versatility while building persuasive portfolios for applications.
Interest Clubs at Kings London
The college runs dozens of clubs spanning diverse areas—from classic sports like football, tennis and badminton to creative pursuits including theatre, photography and textile design. Students can follow their passions or explore multiple fields simultaneously. Beyond traditional activities, Kings London offers clubs reflecting contemporary culture and hobbies:
- Board games (chess, Rummikub)
- Anime and role-playing games (Dungeons & Dragons, Gundam model assembly, Warhammer)
- Film club
- Culture club
- Art through craft
- Debating society
Professional Skills Development
Kings London designed its extracurricular activities around ten key future skills identified by the World Economic Forum, preparing students for modern employment. The college offers several flagship programmes: the Duke of Edinburgh Award with expeditions and volunteering, Model UN for studying diplomacy and international relations, and Business Entrepreneurship, where students launch companies under expert guidance. Through the Student Council, they also represent peers and organize college events.
Academic Growth
Beyond regular classes, students attend subject clubs in mathematics, sciences and current affairs, deepening their knowledge through informal discussion. The college hosts free lectures on academic, linguistic and cultural topics after school. The educational programme includes regular trips to courts, exhibitions, galleries, historical sites and field studies. Throughout the year, students also visit university departments, experiencing campus life and understanding higher education requirements firsthand.
