Expansion of AAL
In the lively center of Cyprus, the American Academy Limassol began its educational journey in 1986 with a small group of 50 part-time students. Due to rapid growth, by 1990, the primary division relocated to 7 Lefkas Street to accommodate the increasing student population.
The early 2000s marked a significant period of expansion. In 2000, the academy extended its offerings by introducing nursery and preschool classes along with an Educational Training Center. This expansion also included the establishment of a boarding facility, which welcomed international students.
Responding to the rising demand for private Greek education, a Greek secondary school was launched in 2001. From 2006 to 2008, the secondary school in Limassol underwent further expansion with an additional floor to meet growing educational needs. By 2008, a new kindergarten had opened, reinforcing the commitment to early childhood education.
Global Reach and Academic Excellence
In 2010, the American Academy Limassol entered the international stage by partnering with the Tanafoua Group of Companies to manage a series of schools in Saudi Arabia. The following year, the academy gained City and Guilds accreditation as an online examination center for the English language, highlighting its dedication to academic excellence.
High academic standards are evident in the achievements of the students. Since 1993, 755 students have graduated, with an impressive 98% securing university placements. Students consistently achieve top grades in GCE A Level and GCSE exams, outperforming the UK average.
The academy follows a British educational approach, preparing students for IGCSE and A Levels, and also offers the Apolytirion, accredited by the Ministry of Education. This dual pathway facilitates access to universities in the UK, the US, Australia, and Europe. Scholarships based on academic merit and national sports achievements further support students in their educational and extracurricular pursuits.
