Why IT at AUB

Arts University Bournemouth merges technology with creative practice, which proves invaluable across game development, UX design, and visual effects. Its proximity to London connects students with leading galleries, museums, and studios, while bachelor’s programs feature an optional placement year between the second and third years—allowing theory to meet industry application. The university houses a specialized game studio equipped with professional tools and software, complemented by library resources that span electronic books, academic journals, and downloadable materials. These facilities work alongside industry partnerships, where students tackle real briefs and build portfolios that align with employer expectations.

Games and Design at Arts University Bournemouth

The Bournemouth campus brings together creative minds, fostering an environment where collaboration and idea exchange thrive naturally. BA (Hons) Games Art and Design guides students through the entire game creation process—from concept to release in Unity and Unreal Engine—while they master original concept art, character animation techniques, experimental gameplay, and artificial intelligence integration. Beyond technical skills, the course emphasizes social dimensions like equality, inclusivity, gaming ethics, and applications in healthcare and education. Live projects with industry partners provide insider insights, and dedicated modules on startups, indie games, intellectual property, and fundraising prepare graduates for entrepreneurial ventures.

User Experience

MA User Experience (UX/UI) combines research with hands-on practice, developing advanced creative and strategic capabilities. It focuses on user-centered design while critically examining cultural and ethical dimensions—from accessibility and inclusivity to digital wellbeing and data ethics. Students navigate complex design challenges through live briefs and interdisciplinary projects, creating portfolios where research insights intertwine with visual and interactive design. Entrepreneurial thinking runs through the program, equipping graduates for freelance work, launching their own ventures, or leading digital teams as they craft meaningful and responsible solutions.

Visual Effects and Computer Graphics

The intensive one-year MA Visual Effects and Photorealistic Computer Graphics covers the complete VFX pipeline—from pre-production through final post-production. Mimicking real studio conditions, students complete six projects while mastering digital enhancement, simulation, artificial intelligence, shooting, lighting, compositing, and management. Master classes from industry professionals—including ILM’s Head of Compositing, Automatic VFX’s Head of CG, and MPC’s Animation Supervisor—complement exchanges with ARTFX campuses in Lille, Paris, and Montpellier, plus an optional placement year. The final project, supervised by leading specialists, becomes a bridge to employment as graduates enter the job market with robust portfolios and industry connections.
