Curriculum

Ashbourne College’s Curriculum from Students’ Perspective

Aims and Objectives Our college wants us to love learning and think independently. They also want us to be confident and reach our potential through things like being on time, attending all our classes, finishing our work, and preparing for exams by practicing a lot.

Year 11 Curriculum Most of us in Year 11 do a one-year GCSE program. All of us study English Literature and Language, Mathematics, and Double Award Science. We can also choose optional subjects. Students who speak English as a second language get a special timetable with extra support if they need it.

A-Level Curriculum At Ashbourne, we can choose from many A-Level subjects that match our interests and what we want to do in the future. We have lots of classes for each subject each week over a short 31-week term. Our classes are small, and we have good classrooms for learning.

Extracurricular Programme Our college has lots of activities and events for us to join, like the Ashbourne Revue and trips to European cities. We also have clubs for things like football, Bollywood dancing, finance, Model United Nations, and Creative Writing.

Support for Students Our Personal Tutors work closely with us to give one-to-one support and help with applying to university. We also have a program for Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education to fit our needs and the fact that many of us are from different countries.

University Applications and Careers Ashbourne helps us choose what we want to do in the future and apply to university. They also have special programs to help us qualify for specific courses and universities.

Additional Information Our college’s in a great place in London, close to cultural places like museums, galleries, and theaters. It’s a friendly and relaxed place, but also disciplined, and we can call our teachers by their first names. Ashbourne is part of the CIFE group of independent colleges and is good at getting students into Russell Group universities.

Conclusion Ashbourne’s curriculum and activities are meant to give us a good education that not only prepares us for university but also helps us develop our personal and social skills for the future.
