Early Years

At Aspen Heights British School, the preschool curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, covering seven developmental areas for children aged three to five. While they build communication skills, physical coordination, and foundational literacy, young learners also explore their surroundings through creative expression—from music to dance—and begin studying Arabic four times weekly. Primary students (Years 1-6) then engage with the British national curriculum through thematic projects that encourage them to ask questions and discover answers independently, covering mathematics, sciences, English, computing, alongside Arabic, history, geography, arts, design, music, PE, and French from Year 3 onward.

Secondary School

The middle years maintain this academic trajectory while nurturing personal growth through small classes and attentive pastoral care, helping teenagers navigate challenges with confidence. Teachers weave meaningful connections between disciplines so that knowledge forms a cohesive worldview rather than isolated fragments. Core subjects include English, mathematics, sciences, Arabic, Islamic studies, social studies, computing, and personal development lessons, complemented by history, geography, PE, swimming, French, plus creative pursuits in art, design, and music.

IGCSE Program

During Key Stage 4, students prepare for IGCSE examinations by selecting subjects aligned with their interests and future goals. Everyone studies mathematics, sciences (either combined or as separate chemistry, biology, physics), English language and literature, plus Arabic for native speakers, Islamic studies for Muslims, and UAE social studies to meet Ministry requirements. Beyond these foundations, they choose three subjects from a diverse range:

  • Art
  • Computer Science
  • Drama
  • Design and Technology
  • Economics
  • French
  • Geography
  • History
  • Physical Education
  • Psychology

Those taking three separate sciences count them as one option. Additionally, all pursue moral education and PE without examinations, promoting balanced development.

IB Diploma at Aspen Heights British School

Years 12 and 13 transition to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, which opens pathways to leading universities worldwide. Students tackle six academic subjects while completing theory of knowledge, engaging in creative and community activities, and composing an extended essay—a comprehensive approach that cultivates critical thinking and intercultural understanding. Assessment combines coursework throughout the year (20-25%) with final examinations, yielding up to 45 points total. Most universities seek around 32 points for admission, and graduates consistently meet this threshold.
