Creative Arts Centre
The Creative Arts Centre serves as a hub where students explore jewelry-making, ceramics, sculpture, fine art, textiles, printmaking, photography, and digital media. Badminton School regularly brings in professional artists like Serena De La Hay and Rupert Bathurst, who collaborate with students on specific projects. Students frequently enter competitions such as the Bristol Schools’ Art Exhibition, exploring both contemporary industry pathways and traditional routes as they develop their practice.
Culinary Arts
Through its partnership with the award-winning Leiths Academy, Badminton School offers students the chance to complete the Leiths Introductory Certificate in Food and Wine. Particularly popular among sixth formers, this five-term program builds fundamental culinary skills through hands-on practice. The externally assessed course teaches students to prepare diverse dishes and pair them with appropriate wines, while the school’s excellent food and nutrition facilities provide an inspiring environment that fuels students’ passion for cooking.
Music and Drama
Music forms an integral part of life at Badminton School, where students of all abilities find encouragement to participate. Each term features a major concert, with the spring performance held at Bristol’s most prestigious venue, St. George’s. Over 20 visiting music teachers arrive weekly to instruct students across a wide range of instruments, and the school regularly organizes international tours that have taken performers to Budapest, Bruges, Barcelona, Florence, Leipzig, and Berlin.
Drama at Badminton School gives students the opportunity to perform onstage or work behind the scenes in the annual senior production. Regular theatre trips take them to local venues, Stratford-upon-Avon, and London, while some join local companies like Bristol Youth Theatre. Speech and drama lessons remain popular, culminating in LAMDA and Poetry Vanguard examinations that develop students’ performance skills.
