Flexible Boarding Options

Bedales School understands that every family has unique needs, which is why a variety of boarding options are available. Whether it’s full, half, or flexible boarding, children aged 8-13 at Bedales Prep, Dunhurst can find an option that fits. The co-educational boarding environment is both supportive and dynamic, offering numerous evening and weekend activities. For those who prefer to spend weekends at home, a train service to London Waterloo is conveniently provided.

Preparatory Class Boarding and Amenities

Designed with student comfort and integration in mind, the newly renovated 40-bed boarding house, which opened in September 2023, provides an ideal living space. Boys and girls reside in separate dormitories with shared social areas that promote a sense of community. Each dormitory is furnished with personal touches, electrical outlets, and other amenities to create a homely atmosphere.

Inclusivity is at the heart of Bedales School, reflected in mixed-age dormitories where older students mentor younger ones. This arrangement fosters a nurturing and supportive community, helping all students feel at home and part of the school family.

Senior Boarding Experience

For senior students, Bedales School offers three distinct boarding houses: Steephurst for girls, Boys’ Flat for boys, and 6.2 Flat, a co-educational residence for Year 13 students. This setup encourages a sense of unity, helping students identify more with the entire Bedales community rather than individual houses.

Mixed-age dormitories in Steephurst and Boys’ Flat help forge strong bonds across year groups, with older students taking on leadership roles. At 6.2 Flat, students experience greater independence and responsibility, preparing them for life after Bedales.
