Primary Education Program

In the primary years, specifically in groups 1-3 (equivalent to grades 4-6), Bedales School offers a comprehensive education. English and humanities are taught by class teachers, making the learning process engaging and relevant.

Specialized subjects include mathematics, sciences, art, design, music, physical education, drama, French, Spanish, and dance. Bedales School also emphasizes ecological literacy and outdoor learning, with weekly double lessons focused on forest skills.

Middle School Program at Bedales School

As students transition into blocks 1 and 2 (grades 7 and 8), all subjects are taught by specialist teachers. Bedales School places students in small groups to ensure their pastoral needs are met and their academic requirements are understood.

A strong support system, including weekly individual sessions, helps students become independent in managing their work and fosters a sense of community. Students are also introduced to self-directed learning through “green” lessons, where they can complete assignments or pursue further academic research, art, or sports.

Bedales Senior School

In the senior years, Bedales School continues to innovate its curriculum. The school has developed Bedales Assessed Courses (BACs) for blocks 4 and 5 (grades 10 and 11), where students can choose from a range of innovative courses that complement the core I/GCSE subjects. These courses are highly regarded by universities and employers, offering extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary and independent learning.

Bedales School also runs a community service program, requiring students to contribute to community life both within and outside the school.

Sixth Form Program

The Sixth Form at Bedales School provides a broad and stimulating environment for the final years of education. The school has developed the Bedales Enrichment Programme, a series of courses chosen from a wide range of options designed by the staff and shaped by student requests.

Subjects available in the Sixth Form are organized into groups, allowing for great flexibility to meet individual student needs and university and college requirements.
