Egerton, recognizing the need for a school that catered to middle-class boys with Anglican Catholic principles, acquired the derelict building. From its official opening in January 1860 with just one pupil, Bloxham School embarked on a path of rapid growth under Egerton’s stewardship, expanding to 180 pupils by 1886 with impressive Victorian architecture to its name.

In 1897, Bloxham School’s affiliation with the Woodard Corporation solidified its independent origin and character, aiding its development despite geographical isolation.
