Programs at the British School of Malaga
The British School of Malaga seamlessly combines the British National Curriculum with aspects of the Spanish educational system, creating a distinctive and comprehensive learning environment.
Early Years at BSM
Education at the British School of Malaga begins with Nursery (for 3-year-olds) and Reception (for 4-year-olds). These early years focus on immersing children in the English language from the start.
Each classroom is managed by a skilled teacher and an assistant, with additional staff on hand to support during breaks and mealtimes. The curriculum prioritizes play and the social and emotional growth of the children.
Primary Education
Primary education spans from Year 1 (age 5) to Year 6 (age 10). The curriculum is built around core subjects like English and Mathematics, which form the foundation of daily learning activities.
Subjects such as Science, Geography, History, and Art are taught through engaging, project-based methods that encourage creativity and analytical thinking. Daily lessons in Spanish subjects (Lengua and Sociales) ensure a balanced and inclusive education.
Secondary Education at BSM
Secondary education starts in Year 7 (age 11) and continues through to Year 11 (age 15). Each subject is delivered by teachers with expertise in their fields, and students rotate between classes according to a structured timetable.
From Year 7, students have the option to study a modern language (French or German). Core subjects are taught in groups tailored to students’ abilities, promoting a personalized learning experience.
Sixth Form at BSM
The Sixth Form, comprising Years 12 and 13, represents the final stage at the British School of Malaga. This period involves a two-year program focused on A Levels, essential for university admissions in the UK and recognized globally.
Alongside A Levels, students also engage with Spanish subjects, equipping them with the necessary qualifications for entry into both public and private Spanish universities. This dual qualification system broadens the future academic and professional opportunities for students, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
