Requirements for Applicants

Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts welcomes candidates who have varying preparation levels. Successful admission requires assembling a document package that includes academic transcripts, a portfolio of creative work or audition recording, and a personal statement. International students must also demonstrate English proficiency through IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson PTE, or similar exams. Language requirements vary by program—undergraduate courses accept IELTS 5.5 (minimum 5.5 in each component), while master’s programs demand IELTS 6.5. British qualifications like GCSE or A-Level in English with grade C or above are also recognized, which simplifies the process for UK school graduates.

Applying to Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts

The application method depends on your chosen program and where you’re from. British undergraduates must apply through UCAS, the centralized university admissions service, whereas international candidates can choose between UCAS or submitting directly via the institution’s website. Foundation courses and master’s programs follow a simpler process—all applicants submit through an online form on Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts’ website. Additionally, the Clearing system opens in July, giving students who got different exam results or changed their mind a chance to apply at the last moment.

Portfolio and Auditions

The creative component forms the cornerstone of admission to CSVPA. Visual arts programs require portfolios featuring 10-15 best works created over the past 18 months. Quality matters more than quantity—the admissions committee values process documentation, research, and experimentation in sketchbooks rather than just finished pieces. Performing arts applicants, meanwhile, undergo auditions demonstrating technical abilities and material comprehension. Receiving an Offer

After reviewing applications, Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts sends answers by email or through UCAS. Offers come in two forms: first type requires you to get certain exam grades or prove your English level, and second type gives you a spot right away without extra steps. After students accept their offer and pay the deposit, international applicants receive visa documents—either Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) or Confirmation of Enrolment (COE). Early application is strongly advised to ensure sufficient time for visa paperwork and timely arrival before term begins, particularly for overseas students.
