The mathematics department encourages students to participate in academic competitions, regularly inviting them to attend college or local lectures, enroll in additional courses, join discussion sessions, and receive specialized Oxbridge or STEP preparation. Such efforts yield impressive results: in 2015, 75% of participants in the Senior Mathematical Challenge earned awards, with gold medalists advancing to Senior Kangaroo and top performers (around 20%) progressing to the British Mathematical Olympiad’s first and second rounds.
