Early Years Education

At Claremont School, young children can enjoy an educational process based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. The balance between adult-led play and child-initiated activities creates a positive atmosphere. Children actively engage in exciting and meaningful learning activities. Specialised sessions, including music, French, and yoga, help develop confidence, imagination, and an understanding of the world around them. In the Ladybirds classes (ages 2-3), the emphasis is on creativity and outdoor play. Children receive support in physical development and learning independence. Their progress and significant achievements are monitored using Tapestry, an online journal that allows parents to stay informed about their children’s development.

Primary School Programme

The open and friendly atmosphere at Claremont School encourages students to develop curiosity and self-expression. The curriculum includes foundational knowledge in the humanities and sciences, sports, and the arts. Special attention is given to reading as a key to new knowledge. Subjects such as French, music, and drama are taught by professionals. The unique Outdoor Learning programme offers activities outside, such as scientific experiments in the Jubilee Garden and artistic creativity away from the classroom. Children have opportunities to perform in local care homes and partake in cultural excursions.

Preparation for Senior School

Claremont School offers a broad and balanced curriculum that caters to the individual needs of each student. Core subjects include English, Mathematics, and Science, alongside additional subjects such as French, Spanish, and Art. In 2019, a six-year programme was introduced to provide better preparation for GCSEs. It encompasses both mental and physical development for the exams. Scholarships and awards for achievements in academics, sports, and the arts are also available.

BTEC and Award Qualifications

The diversity of subjects includes traditional disciplines as well as more contemporary ones, such as Psychology and Economics. Additionally, students have opportunities to attain BTEC and Award qualifications.
