Academic Programs
Cobham Hall welcomes students from age 11, focusing on critical thinking and practical skills rather than rote memorization. Small classes ensure personalized attention, allowing everyone to progress at their own pace—particularly valuable for those learning English as an additional language.
The curriculum unfolds across three stages:
- Years 7-9 (Lower School) — foundational education covering two languages (French and Spanish), sciences, and personal development skills
- Years 10-11 — GCSE preparation, with students selecting one language and sciences splitting into biology, chemistry, and physics
- Years 12-13 (Sixth Form) — advanced A-Level program offering co-educational learning
Perspectives Course
What distinguishes Cobham Hall is its Perspectives curriculum, which cultivates the soft skills employers and universities value: problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience. This evolves alongside students—beginning with Personal Perspectives to build self-awareness, progressing to Global Perspectives that explores contemporary worldwide issues, and culminating in Future Perspectives, where they tackle practical life skills from budgeting to basic car maintenance.
University Preparation at Cobham Hall
The Sixth Form cultivates leadership by granting students greater autonomy and responsibility, creating a university-like atmosphere. Beyond academics, they learn decision-making, time management, and initiative-taking. Nearly all graduates secure university places—some pursuing Oxford, Cambridge, or Russell Group institutions, others choosing vocational paths. Either way, they leave with clear direction and the capabilities needed to achieve their ambitions.
Student Support
Whether struggling with English or finding certain material challenging, students receive targeted assistance. Small classes enable teachers to recognize individual needs and adapt their approach accordingly. The Independent Learning Centre provides spaces for solo or group study, complete with extensive library resources and databases. Meanwhile, career guidance begins in Year 7, helping students gradually identify their strengths and shape future plans.
