Commitment to Student Health
At Dean Close School, the student community recognizes the Health Centre as a cornerstone of their wellbeing. Staffed with dedicated professionals—including a full-time Nurse Manager, Physiotherapist, part-time School Nurses, and Health Care Assistants—students have access to comprehensive health care. Those who reside on campus take comfort in knowing there’s 24/7 health support during term time.
Accessible Medical Support
The Health Centre’s strategic placement within the Senior school and its extensions in the Preparatory and Pre-Prep schools substantiates its accessibility. Each Day and Boarding House benefits from a designated nurse, who ensures a consistent and thorough approach to students’ health and wellness. Moreover, they proficiently handle frequent conditions such as allergies, asthma, and skin issues, alongside safely managing medication and tackling concussion risks.
General Practice Services
Routine healthcare procedures are well within reach for students. Through the Health Centre or in partnership with Overton Park Surgery, they’re provided general practitioner services, from bloodwork to immunizations. Prescription processes are simplified for boarders, with medications delivered straight to the Health Centre, ensuring both convenience and continuity of care.
Nutrition and Dining
Pivotal to Dean Close School’s ethos is the focus on nutrition. The Catering Team takes pride in serving balanced meals, prioritizing fresh, locally sourced ingredients and accommodating various dietary needs. Meal times are more than just eating; they are moments for communal joy and inform part of the daily rhythm where students refuel and connect.
Holistic Approach to Wellbeing
By integrating medical expertise with a pastoral and mental health network, the Health Centre at Dean Close School underpins a collaborative and all-encompassing approach to student care. This solidarity between the different support systems within the school ensures that every student’s health and wellbeing are not just addressed but prioritized, fostering an environment where they can thrive academically and personally.
