Unique Alliance with Dubai Performing Arts Academy

Dubai British School Jumeirah Park (DBSJP) has formed an exclusive partnership with the Dubai Performing Arts Academy (DPA). This collaboration has enabled the school to create one of the first BTEC programs in performing arts in Dubai. DPA, led by Lisa Scott-Lee from the British pop group STEPS and West End star and choreographer Johnny Shentall-Lee, has significantly enriched the performing arts program at the school.

BTEC Diploma at Dubai British School Jumeirah Park

The school offers a unique BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts, one of the first of its kind in the region. The course is designed to prepare “triple threat” performers—those who excel in singing, acting, and dancing. The program at DBSJP is supported by top-notch facilities, including a 500-seat theatre, four dance studios, a recording studio, a radio studio, and a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre.

The course is project-based and focuses on developing personal qualities that can be applied in all areas of future study and work. These qualities at DBSJP include communication, teamwork, negotiation, self-management, adaptability, resilience, and self-control.

The two-year program at DBSJP consists of 720 guided learning hours (GLH) spread across several sections and aligns with contemporary industry practices, university teaching, and assessment methodologies. The course is equivalent to 2 A Levels for the BTEC Level 3 Diploma. An extended diploma (1080 GLH), equivalent to 3 A Levels, is also available.

Dubai Performing Arts Academy

DPA, a KHDA-approved performing arts company located at DBSJP, was established in 2014 and has quickly grown to over 500 talented young performers. DPA’s mission is to offer first-class training and provide opportunities to experience and enjoy comprehensive performing arts education for all ages.

DPA offers a variety of engaging classes designed by professionals, including ballet, tap, contemporary, street dance, musical theatre, private singing lessons, and more. Throughout the year, students have various performance opportunities, such as participating in the annual production, performing in professional pantomimes, and regular events like the Emirates Rugby 7 opening ceremony, concerts on the prestigious QE2 and at Dubai Opera, flash mobs, fashion shows, and many more.
