Primary School

The early years at Eerde International Boarding School Netherlands blend IPC with Cambridge Primary, creating a foundation where children master mathematics and English through the Cambridge framework while IPC connects subjects thematically. This approach helps them see how disciplines relate to one another, nurturing critical thinking from the start. What makes it distinctive is the learning that happens outdoors in a 17th-century forest estate—children explore math and language through movement, and IPC projects unfold directly in nature, making abstract concepts tangible while building social skills and creativity.

Middle School at Eerde International School

Between ages 11 and 14, the school combines IMYC with Cambridge Lower Secondary courses in mathematics and English, encouraging both subject mastery and cross-disciplinary thinking. IMYC organizes learning around conceptual “big ideas” through six-week modules that weave together English, mathematics, sciences, history, geography, music, art, physical education, and foreign languages. Each module follows a cycle—sparking interest, conducting research, documenting findings, and reflecting on what’s been learned—which grounds knowledge in practice. Mentorship and the academic support team ensure each student progresses comfortably, building a foundation for Pre-IB or other upper school pathways.

Pre-IB and Diploma Programs

The one-year Pre-IB course welcomes students aged 15 and above who’ve completed grade 9, preparing them for the demands of IBDP by strengthening English proficiency, mathematics, and sciences while introducing research methods and international perspectives. Afterward, they can pursue the full IBDP or the Eerde High School Diploma—a more flexible option that combines IB courses with additional school subjects, allowing for specialization. Requirements include four years of English, three years each of mathematics, a foreign language, social sciences, and natural sciences, plus courses in arts, physical education, or IT, along with Theory of Knowledge and the CAS project. CIS and MSA accreditation ensures recognition at universities across the US, UK, and beyond.

IBDP and the Path to Universities

The IBDP at Eerde International Boarding School Netherlands balances academic rigor with critical thinking and social responsibility. Students select six subjects spanning language and literature, foreign languages, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, and the arts—three at standard level, three at higher—ensuring breadth while allowing specialization. The school also supports native language study alongside the main curriculum. Beyond subjects, the diploma’s core includes Theory of Knowledge, which challenges assumptions about what we know; CAS, where students engage in projects from concerts at care homes to fundraising for shelters; and an extended essay of up to 4,000 words for independent research. Classes stay under 15 students, taught by masters-level educators from various countries whose perspectives enrich discussions. A university counselor guides each student through the application process, and statistics confirm that IBDP graduates secure university places more often than peers from other programs.
