Academic Programs

Eerde International Boarding School welcomes children from 6 to 19, building a continuous educational journey that draws on recognized international frameworks. Primary students follow IPC alongside Cambridge courses in English and mathematics, while the middle years combine IMYC with Cambridge Lower Secondary. Upper school offers a preparatory Pre-IB course, the classic IB Diploma Programme, or the flexible Eerde High School Diploma. Small classes of up to 15 students allow talented children to pursue individual projects and progress at their own pace with dedicated attention from teachers.

Educational Approach

From the earliest years, learning unfolds through thematic blocks where subjects interconnect around central ideas, helping children see relationships between disciplines. The IMYC middle school program expands this through six-week modules built on conceptual frameworks, with students cycling through investigation, documentation, and reflection while examining topics from personal, interpersonal, and global perspectives. The IB Diploma phase develops independence further: students engage with theory of knowledge to critically assess how we understand the world, complete a 4,000-word extended essay as independent research, and undertake the CAS project (creativity, activity, service), which cultivates social responsibility and creative thinking.

Language Environment at Eerde International Boarding School

English serves as the language of instruction from day one, with Cambridge English integrated throughout to build a foundation for internationally recognized examinations. Middle and high school students must complete at least three years of foreign language study for their diploma, choosing modern languages that align with their interests and university requirements. The IB Diploma program also supports students in maintaining their native language—particularly valuable in a community representing over 30 nationalities—allowing them to preserve cultural identity while developing global perspective and fluency in English.

Flexibility and Individual Support

The one-year Pre-IB program for students from age 15 strengthens English, mathematics, and sciences while introducing International Baccalaureate methodology—especially valuable for those without IGCSE experience. Alternatively, the Eerde High School Diploma offers flexibility for students who prefer specialization or standard-level courses, combining IBDP elements with other subjects while including theory of knowledge and the CAS project. A dedicated learning support department creates individualized plans for students with specific needs, while tutoring and mentorship systems help balance academic demands with personal well-being—particularly important for gifted children requiring tailored approaches.
