Early Years and Primary School

Early years mark a period of rapid cognitive, social, and emotional growth that shapes all future learning. The academy’s philosophy draws on the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) alongside Britain’s Early Years Foundation Stage, where young learners explore through play and questioning while developing as active participants in their education. As they progress into primary school, this foundation evolves into personalized learning that adapts to each child’s needs, covering four transdisciplinary themes through languages, mathematics, science, and physical education, plus social studies, arts, and music—culminating in real-world action after studying global issues.

Middle School at GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) spans five years for students aged 11 to 16, integrating eight subject groups with a minimum of 50 hours annually per subject. Learners engage with English language and literature, mathematics, sciences (biology, chemistry, physics), and physical education, alongside:

  • History and geography
  • Visual arts, music, and dance
  • French or Arabic language
  • Digital and product design

Beyond academics, they participate in Service as Action projects supporting local communities, while the culminating personal project allows them to pursue individual interests through research and creation.

Diploma Programme

Launching in August 2026, the IB Diploma Programme (DP) offers a rigorous two-year pathway preparing motivated students for leading universities worldwide. They select six subjects across sciences, humanities, mathematics, and arts—at standard or higher level—while engaging with the program’s distinctive core. This includes Theory of Knowledge (TOK), which examines the nature of knowledge itself, a 4,000-word research essay on their chosen topic, and CAS projects encompassing creativity, activity, and service, cultivating critical thinking and leadership alongside academic excellence.

Career-related Programme

Also launching in 2026, the IB Career-related Programme (CP) serves students seeking practical knowledge application through specialized pathways:

  • Business and management
  • Technology and informatics
  • Creative industries
  • Medicine and health sciences

Participants complete authentic internships, earn professional certifications, and develop applied projects addressing real company challenges. By combining DP courses with career studies, the program prepares graduates equally for university advancement and workforce entry.
