Entry Points
Kensington Park School welcomes students at three stages. Year 7 (age 11+) admits around 24 pupils across two classes, while Year 9 (13+) takes the same number but spreads them across four. Those joining at 13 gain access to boarding accommodation in the city center, which becomes an appealing option for many families. At Year 12 (16+), the school brings in approximately 30 new students, with about a third arriving from other institutions or overseas—a mix that enriches the Sixth Form environment, where full boarding proves particularly popular.
Criteria and Assessment
Kensington Park seeks well-rounded individuals who demonstrate genuine curiosity beyond academic achievement alone. Candidates applying at 11+ and 13+ sit assessments in English, mathematics, and non-verbal reasoning—tests designed by the school’s own teachers using national curriculum benchmarks to reveal potential. Each applicant then meets with either the Head or the Head of Senior School for a conversation that explores academic interests and extracurricular passions, while giving candidates space to ask whatever questions matter to them about life at Kensington Park.
International Candidates
International students form a third of the school community, representing over 45 nationalities. They face the same assessment process as UK applicants, though testing and interviews can be arranged remotely through their current school or a British Council office for convenience. Visa sponsorship begins at Year 9 for full boarders, but younger students entering Years 7 or 8 need to secure their own visa arrangements or have a UK-based guardian, as immigration regulations require.
Sixth Form at Kensington Park School
Those applying to Sixth Form have an interview with the Head of Sixth Form, where they discuss A-level subject choices, university ambitions, and career aspirations—it’s also when students explain how they plan to contribute to the school’s life. Candidates who haven’t taken mathematics at GCSE but want to pursue it at A-level sit an additional test, while international applicants may need to demonstrate English proficiency if they lack the relevant certification. Registration for September 2026 has opened, and families can attend open days or arrange individual visits.
