Types of Accommodation
Kings Oxford offers three accommodation formats tailored to different ages and preferences. The primary option is Wavy Gate, a year-round residence located in the student neighborhood of Cowley. It sits just 15 minutes’ walk from St Joseph’s campus and 25 minutes from both St Michael’s campus and the city center. Beyond this, a homestay program allows students to immerse themselves in British culture while practicing English outside class. Those over 18 can also choose between two independent student houses—Stanley Road and Wharton Road—both within walking distance of the college.
Wavy Gate at Kings Oxford
The residence features single rooms with private bathrooms, where six students share a spacious kitchen and lounge that fosters a close-knit community. Self-contained studio apartments are available for those who prefer complete independence. On-site facilities include a self-service laundry (£2.80 per wash), 24-hour staff and security, and weekly room cleaning—while common areas are tidied twice a week. The entire building has WiFi, a common room with television and games, and landscaped gardens surrounding the property.
Living with Host Families
Host families in Oxford include retirees, professional couples, single parents, and full families who become part of the student experience. Each home undergoes thorough inspection by the Kings team, with regular checks ensuring high accommodation standards. Students receive a single room with shared bathroom and half-board—breakfast and dinner seven days a week—along with WiFi and weekly laundry service. The commute to college typically takes 40 minutes on foot or by public transport, extending to an hour during peak times.
Facilities and Rules
Students on academic programs at Kings Oxford choose between self-catering and half-board, which provides breakfasts and lunches Monday through Friday at St Joseph’s campus restaurant. Summer language courses operate on a self-catering basis only, with fully equipped kitchens available. For younger students’ safety, a 10:30 PM curfew applies to those aged 16-17. Alcohol is prohibited throughout all residences, while smoking is permitted only in designated areas. Electronic passes control building access, and there’s even a secure storage area for bicycles.
