Creative Portfolio

Kings Oxford offers specialized art and design preparation for students aged 16 and above. Starting in September, January, or April, this programme spans one to three terms and helps build a compelling portfolio before applying to mainstream art courses. Students begin by exploring fundamental directions in art and design, gradually mastering two- and three-dimensional techniques through sketchbook work and thematic projects. Throughout this process, instructors guide portfolio development to showcase each applicant’s abilities most effectively.

Academic Study Programme at Kings Oxford

This programme welcomes school graduates aged 17+ who want to spend a year exploring their academic interests while experiencing the British education system. It offers flexibility that allows students to choose classes aligned with their inclinations—whether university preparation, creative disciplines, or business. The course includes English for academic purposes, tailored to individual language proficiency, and runs for one to three terms, helping participants clarify their future specialization before committing to a specific path.

Accelerated A-levels and Foundation Route

Kings Oxford has developed a unique two-year pathway for aspiring art and design students, compressing what typically takes British students three years into a more efficient timeline. During the first year, students complete two A-levels in their chosen art disciplines:

  • Art, Craft and Design — exploration of practical and critical work across various techniques
  • Fine Art — painting, drawing, printmaking, and photography
  • Graphic Communication — advertising, illustration, branding, and information design
  • Photography — mastering photographic techniques and developing creative vision

The second year transitions to Foundation studies, with admissions consultants supporting university preparation throughout.

Programme Requirements

Entry to the art preparation programme requires a school-leaving certificate with strong grades and IELTS 5.0, while the accelerated route demands IELTS 6.0 and a minimum age of 16. The academic programme accepts applicants with IELTS 5.5. Students work in a specialized art studio located in Oxford’s center, equipped with iMac computers running Adobe Creative Suite, photography equipment, and a reference library—creating an environment where the creative process unfolds both comfortably and productively.
