Why Engineering at Kingston

Kingston University maintains two specialized campuses for engineering education. Aerospace Engineering

The Aerospace Engineering MEng/BEng (Hons) program is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society and leads to Chartered Engineer status. Kingston University remains the only UK institution with professional flight simulators—including Airbus A320, helicopter, and six-degree-of-freedom motion trainers. Students explore aerodynamics, propulsion systems, structures, and materials while applying theory to real engineering challenges. The program offers both BEng and MEng pathways, specialization in space technologies, industrial placements, and involvement with a racing car team competing in Formula Student.

Mechanical Engineering

The MEng in Mechanical Engineering MEng/BEng (Hons) fully satisfies Chartered Engineer requirements, while the BEng partially meets them. Students can pursue professional accreditation through the MPDS scheme alongside their studies. This program integrates business management and sustainable practices aligned with UN development goals. Those specializing in Automotive Engineering may join the university’s racing team, which competes annually in Formula Student—the world’s largest student motorsport event whose alumni include Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1’s chief engineer and BLOODHOUND’s lead specialist.

Civil Engineering at Kingston University

Accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators, the Civil Engineering BEng (Hons) fully meets Incorporated Engineer requirements and partially satisfies those for Chartered status. Ranked second among modern London universities by Guardian University Guide 2025, it delivers robust academic and practical training. Students master digital technologies for virtual project modeling and learn climate change mitigation methods for infrastructure. The curriculum covers structural analysis, advanced modeling, automation, contemporary materials, hydraulics, and geotechnics, complemented by specialized lab work and site visits. The program incorporates UN sustainable development goals, teaching their professional application. Robotics and Artificial Intelligence

The Robotic Engineering and Artificial Intelligence MEng/BEng (Hons) focuses on autonomous systems, machine learning, computer vision, and intelligent control. Roehampton Vale campus provides rapid prototyping labs, manufacturing workshops, and a state-of-the-art electronics and robotics facility. Students work with advanced platforms: humanoid robots NAO and Pepper, Unitree series (H1, G1, B2, Go2), Fanuc Educational industrial cell, collaborative Franka Emika R3, and mobile AgileX Hunter and Quanser Qcar. This prepares graduates for industrial manipulators, autonomous vehicles, drones, and space robotics in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
