Joint Activities

Every week, Lancing College sets aside dedicated time for students to engage in diverse extracurricular pursuits, reflecting its commitment to holistic education. These activities complement the academic curriculum while fostering personal growth and skill development beyond the traditional classroom setting.

CCF at Lancing College

With 170 volunteers wearing cadet uniforms across Army and RAF sections, the CCF programme represents a longstanding tradition. This partnership with the Ministry of Defence cultivates personal responsibility, leadership, and self-discipline through weekly training sessions that cover navigation, drill, and field craft. Cadets experience flying days, field exercises, and adventure camps like Capel Curig in Snowdonia, which challenge them while developing teamwork and problem-solving abilities at minimal cost.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Since receiving its independent licence in 1963, Lancing College has offered the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Beginning in Year 10, students pursue this journey through four flexible sections—Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition—that integrate seamlessly with their academic commitments. The programme develops resilience, self-discipline, and leadership qualities while allowing participants to shape their experience around personal interests.

Lancing College Equestrian Centre

Opened in spring 2017, the equestrian centre accommodates riders of all abilities with stabling for 20 horses and a 40×20m all-weather arena. Available seven days a week, it allows riders to train regularly when their schedule permits. Operated by Lancing College Equestrian Limited, the facility demonstrates the school’s dedication to providing varied enrichment opportunities.

The Farm Project

Spanning 70 acres within the South Downs National Park, the farm offers students hands-on involvement in agricultural activities ranging from traditional methods to modern practices. Under the farm manager’s guidance, it supports subjects like biology, geography, and business studies by providing practical application of classroom concepts. Conservation efforts form a key element, with initiatives including species monitoring and bird ringing enriching the experience.
