Located in West Sussex south of London, the college guides students through a structured academic journey from Year 9 through Sixth Form. Its curriculum encourages exploration of interests while building strong foundations in core subjects and developing essential learning skills throughout this progression.

GCSE Programme at Lancing College

Year 9 establishes fundamental learning skills and broad subject understanding before GCSE choices begin in early summer term. By Year 10, students pursue English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, and Religious Studies, while top mathematicians may add OCR Additional Mathematics. Four electives complete the programme, with science-oriented students able to take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics separately rather than combined. Native English speakers must choose at least one language from French, Spanish, German, or Latin.

As students approach Sixth Form, Lancing College provides personalized guidance to help them explore options that are finalized after GCSEs. They’re initially encouraged to select four subjects freely, with timetables adapted to accommodate these preferences. This flexibility ensures diverse combinations that align with each student’s academic abilities, interests, and future aspirations.
