House System
Leweston School operates four boarding houses, each with its own traditions and identity. Younger girls begin in Martha House, represented by a dolphin, before moving on to Cecilia House, while Sixth Form students have dedicated study rooms in Eleanor House. Boys are welcomed into Antony House, remaining there from Year 4 through Sixth Form. Younger pupils share smaller bedrooms with communal spaces, whereas older students enjoy quieter study and relaxation areas. Boarding life balances structured activity with personal care — from walking dogs and go-karting to mentoring newcomers.
Boarding houses:
- Martha House — girls Years 4–8
- Cecilia House — girls Years 9–10
- Eleanor House — Sixth Form students
- Antony House — boys Years 4–13
Boarding Formats
Leweston offers a range of boarding options:
- Casual boarding — occasional overnight stays
- Flexi boarding — 1–3 nights per week
- Weekly boarding — Monday to Friday
- Full boarding — seven days a week
Many families start with flexi boarding and gradually transition to weekly or full boarding as students approach examination years, allowing more time for academic work and extracurricular activities. Boarders may visit local friends or relatives with parental permission. Evening supervised sessions support homework completion, leaving time for socialising in the common rooms.
Daily Life
Weekdays begin at 7:00 am, with breakfast at 7:30 am and morning registration at 8:20 am. Lessons run until 4:25 pm, followed by two activity blocks; pupils in Years 7–10 use this time for homework.
Saturdays are lesson-free, with mornings for rest and catching up on assignments, and afternoons for excursions, sports fixtures, or cycling. Sundays are dedicated entirely to outings, including go-karting, caving, ice skating, theatre, or coastal trips — day students are welcome to join.
Equestrian Boarding and International Support
The equestrian boarding programme offers daily access to the Riding Academy, including pre- and post-school sessions, weekly lessons, and tailored training plans overseen by the Riding School Director.
International students receive round-the-clock support. As a licensed sponsor, the school issues CAS numbers for visa applications before term begins. The Director of International Students manages accommodation, English language tuition, and pastoral care to ensure smooth integration into school life.
