Leweston School develops hockey, netball, rugby, tennis, swimming, and athletics—teams regularly compete at district and national levels. As one of nine official GB Pentathlon training centers in Britain, it offers all five disciplines, from fencing to obstacle courses. The equestrian team has held the NSEA South West Regional Points League championship for seven consecutive years, while the Riding Academy welcomes everyone from beginners to those preparing for national competitions.

Clubs at Leweston School

Dozens of weekly sessions span academic pursuits, hobbies, and performing arts, with programs refreshed each term based on student interests. Evening blocks run after lessons and dinner, allowing day students to participate alongside boarders. Younger students typically join art academy, cooking club, and running sessions, while supervised homework periods help everyone finish assignments before leaving campus.

Duke of Edinburgh

The renowned Duke of Edinburgh program begins with Bronze in Year 9, continues through Silver in Year 10, and culminates in Gold in Year 12—combining volunteering, physical activity, and multi-day expeditions. Gold requires 12-18 months of work plus a five-day residential, with final treks across Purbeck and Exmoor. Meanwhile, Ten Tors Challenge invites Year 12 teams to navigate northern Dartmoor’s terrain, visiting ten checkpoints over two days with overnight camping.

LEAP

Leweston Enrichment Activity Programme for sixth-formers divides into three streams: Community (prefect roles, mentoring), Opportunity (event organization, fitness), and Expertise (academic extensions, EPQ, UCAS preparation). All Year 12 students attend an off-site leadership retreat exploring effective leadership qualities through physical and intellectual challenges. Weekly components include PE, PSHRE (relationships, mental health, finances), Religious Studies, and lifeguard qualification opportunities, supplemented by guest speakers leading career sessions.
