Structure
Leweston School brings together every educational stage on a single campus, where children progress from infancy through to graduation while maintaining familiar surroundings and traditions. Younger and older students share the same grounds, with each level building naturally on what came before. From the very first year, specialist teachers lead music, art, and languages, establishing foundations that support long-term growth.
Learning stages:
- Nursery / Pre-Prep (0–7 years): EYFS, Forest School, swimming, music, languages
- Prep (7–11 years): project-based learning, no national tests, Leweston Learner diploma
- Senior / GCSE (11–16 years): broad curriculum, individual GCSE subject choices
- Sixth Form (16–18 years): A-Level, BTEC, EPQ, LEAP programme
Leweston Learner
The school has developed a framework that nurtures persistence, readiness to take risks, seeking challenges, and independence—qualities woven into every lesson from early years through graduation. Younger students reflect after class on how they’ve demonstrated these traits, collecting stickers and earning bronze, silver, and gold badges. Later, in Year 8, they present final work to the deputy head and receive their Leweston Learner diploma, which documents their personal development.
Personalization at Leweston School
The school deliberately opted out of national testing in Year 6, preserving breadth of learning while reducing unnecessary pressure. Rather than teaching to tests, it emphasizes depth and formative assessment. Senior School classes remain small, while Sixth Form groups are particularly intimate, allowing teachers to focus on individual needs. Meanwhile, the Individual Needs department supports literacy, numeracy, and exam techniques through regular consultations and one-to-one sessions that build confidence and independence.
International Support
Leweston School has taught English as an additional language for over 50 years, covering beginner through advanced levels under the guidance of its Director of International Students and qualified teaching team. Students work toward Cambridge qualifications in Years 7–10, sit GCSE English Language in Year 11, and prepare for IELTS in Sixth Form ahead of university applications. Beyond the main curriculum, the school welcomes short-term groups and individuals on Immersion and Short Stay programmes that offer full integration into British school life.
