LAMDA Exams

Lucton School provides students with the chance to engage with the transformative power of dramatic arts through lessons offered by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). These lessons, available to all students from the second to the sixth grade, enhance creative potential, innovation, and confident communication. They offer benefits that extend beyond dramatic performance. For senior students, LAMDA lessons can also contribute valuable UCAS points, which are beneficial for university applications.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Lucton School strongly encourages Year 9 students to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) program. This program is designed to equip young people with essential life skills through various challenges and activities, fostering confidence, perseverance, and dedication.

The DofE program is a valuable addition to university and job applications, showcasing the ability to go the extra mile. The program consists of three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each requiring successful completion of several key challenges.

CCF at Lucton School

The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Lucton School has a history spanning over 100 years, beginning as the Army Cadet Force. Today, it is an engaging way for students to develop teamwork, self-confidence, leadership skills, and the importance of stepping out of their comfort zones. For those interested in aviation and various other roles included in the service,

Lucton has introduced the opportunity to become RAF cadets. All students start their training in the Cadet School in Year 8, spending the first year learning the basics of navigation, first aid, and other essential skills. In Year 9, they decide whether to join the Army or the RAF.

Expanding Horizons at Lucton School

Lucton offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for students to participate in, including an extensive program of trips and visits. These activities can be organized during the school day, as it is slightly longer.

Lucton School also boasts numerous school clubs, which change from year to year but currently include journalism, chess, beginner guitar, book club, drama, electronics, ICT, and astronomy.
