GCSE Academic Results

Minerva’s Virtual Academy achieved remarkable GCSE outcomes in 2024, with 67.1% of grades falling between 9-4 and 21.6% reaching top marks of 9-7. These figures become even more significant when considering that many students arrived having struggled considerably before joining MVA. English and mathematics showed particularly strong performance: 90% of students secured 9-4 grades in English, while 41% achieved 9-7—more than double the national average of 15.5%. In mathematics, the school outpaced the country’s 58.2% with 71.5%.

Graduates and University Admissions

Success extended beyond GCSEs, as A-Level and BTEC students also excelled in summer 2024. A quarter of all grades reached A and A, while over half fell between A and C. These achievements enabled graduates to secure places at their chosen universities, including the University of Exeter, Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Roehampton, and Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Others pursued alternative paths—some entered employment immediately, others continued their education, while several chose a well-earned gap year.

Personal Approach at Minerva’s Virtual Academy

Individual mentoring forms the foundation of its success, earning high praise from Ofsted in 2024. Each student receives a carefully matched mentor who considers their interests and needs, helping them thrive where they previously struggled. This approach transformed attendance dramatically: students funded by local authorities now attend at 95.4%, while those combining MVA with another school reach 96.3%—a stark contrast to their previous rates, which ranged from 85% to 0%. The data suggests the problem often lies in the environment rather than the child.

New Opportunities and Recognition

Minerva’s Virtual Academy continues expanding what it offers. Recently, MVA secured a license to deliver the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award—a prestigious program requiring dedication, independence, and resilience. Ninth graders can now develop new skills, engage in volunteering, and embark on a two-day expedition with overnight camping. Since its 2020 founding, the school has grown to serve 1,000+ families across more than 50 countries, while this year alone its team met with over 500 families at 30+ events throughout Britain and abroad.
