Classes in a Student City
Easter exam preparation courses have been running at MPW Cambridge for over 30 years. Experienced teachers work here, many of whom are examiners themselves and know the boards’ requirements from the inside. Groups include up to 9 people, which allows attention to each student. The program focuses on intensive revision of key topics, practicing exam techniques and essay writing, while students work through typical questions in their subjects.
A Level Retakes at MPW Cambridge
When exam results fall short of what’s needed for a chosen university, there’s always a chance to fix this. MPW Cambridge helps achieve the required grades instead of settling for compromises. Many of the college’s graduates have successfully entered Russell Group universities after retakes. Both year-long programs and short courses are available — final grades matter not just to admissions offices but to future employers as well.
GCSE Retakes
Winter GCSE retake courses are gradually disappearing since exam boards offer very few subjects during this period. MPW Cambridge now only provides year-long GCSE programs. Students who’ve previously taken these exams typically switch to the college’s preferred exam board and complete the full set of available modules.
Retake Options at MPW Cambridge
The college offers five different retake course options with varying start dates and durations. Year-long courses suit those who missed their target grades by a significant margin and need thorough revision of several modules, often across more than one subject. Short courses come in four variants starting in September or January. They’re designed for students who fell slightly short and need to retake just a few modules, which works for those wanting to dedicate part of the year to other pursuits.
Transferring to MPW Cambridge After Year 12
Each year, many of the most successful students are those who transferred here after their first year at a sixth form college. These are usually people who chose the wrong subjects at school or fell behind during their first year for various reasons. In such cases, it’s better to change environment at the end of Year 12 than to compound problems through Year 13, when the only solution becomes a third year of study.
