Foundation and Development
In 1973, three graduates from Cambridge University—Sir Nicholas Mander, Rodney Portman, and Robert Woodworth—established the MPW Group educational network in London, which steadily grew into one of the most esteemed independent college networks across the UK. Today, it unites three sixth-form institutions in London, Birmingham, and Cambridge, situated in contemporary campuses adjacent to prestigious universities.
Students at MPW Cambridge
Annually, approximately 1,200 students register at the colleges—roughly two-thirds come from Britain, while the remainder arrive from international locations. Another 1,500 learners, chiefly from the UK, enroll in Easter revision courses. All MPW colleges operate under a common management structure and collective principles, ensuring consistently high educational standards at each site.
Half a Century of Achievement
When the founders opened their first college in September 1973, they aimed to replicate the educational experience they treasured: intimate class sizes, a thoughtfully structured tutorial system, and quality teaching in a relaxed environment. Five decades later, these core principles continue to form the foundation of MPW Cambridge’s methodology, and the institution is getting ready to honor the outstanding achievements of its alumni, students, and teachers throughout the last fifty years.

Looking Ahead
As it nears its 50th anniversary, MPW Cambridge is creating multiple new programs that will be announced in due course. For a contemporary college that merges flexibility with a welcoming setting, this represents a significant landmark. Although functioning with just two buildings, it accepts an additional 1,500 British students each year for exam resit courses, reflecting its excellent reputation and considerable appeal.
