Visual Arts
The art studio occupies the top floor beneath the roof, where natural light floods the space throughout the day. Students explore everything from traditional painting to 3D printing, textile design, and sculpture — they’re encouraged to experiment with whatever medium calls to them. Each year brings the Big Exhibition, showcasing pieces from every child in the school. Those serious about developing their skills can join the morning art club from Year 5, building portfolios that often lead to art scholarships at senior schools.
Music Lessons
North Bridge House Prep School offers instruction in over ten instruments, ranging from cello and flute to saxophone and trombone. Two main classrooms are complemented by soundproof practice booths where students rehearse individually or record their compositions. The school maintains an orchestra, several choirs, and wind ensembles that perform regularly for parents and peers. Students prepare for professional music exams and consistently excel in LAMDA assessments — Britain’s recognized system for evaluating performance skills.
Drama at North Bridge House Prep School
The drama studio features professional-grade stage lighting that transforms rehearsals into genuine theatrical experiences. Students work daily on developing their acting abilities and preparing for LAMDA exams, which theater schools across the country recognize. Performances often take place in the school’s historic chapel, where stained glass windows and ornate ceilings create an enchanting atmosphere. The annual My House Got Talent competition brings everyone together — children perform magic tricks and songs while teachers occasionally surprise audiences with their own acts.
Competitions and Achievements
Creative clubs rotate throughout the year, featuring disciplines like calligraphy, anime, street art, and modeling. Students regularly enter prestigious competitions such as Young Art at the Royal College of Art or the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition for young artists. Educational trips take them through London’s galleries — younger ones explore immersive exhibitions while older students study the Courtauld Gallery’s collection or discover Shoreditch’s street art. Recently, an alumnus won the Urban Wildlife category at the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards with his photograph of sand martins nesting in drainage pipes at a nature reserve.
