Recognition from Independent Inspection

In February 2025, Oratory School received positive evaluation from the Independent Schools Inspectorate, which confirmed its full compliance with UK independent school standards. Inspectors particularly noted how teachers foster a respectful environment where students feel both safe and content. The boarding provision earned special praise for helping children develop as individuals, while the curriculum and co-curricular activities encourage leadership and self-expression, building confidence alongside a desire to support others.

Academic Success at The Oratory School

The school consistently achieves strong results, ranking within the top 25% nationally for value-added progress at both GCSE and A Level, with girls reaching the top 10% at GCSE. In 2025, physics led with 78% of grades at 9-7, chemistry at 72%, while 90% of all results fell between 9-4—20% above the national average. At A Level, half the chemistry cohort earned A-A, and religious studies alongside 3D design saw 100% achieve A-B. These outcomes help most graduates reach their first-choice universities.

University Destinations

Half of Year 13 graduates proceed to Russell Group universities, Britain’s leading research institutions. Popular destinations include Exeter, Bristol, Warwick, and Bath, where students pursue business, economics, biomedical sciences, and engineering. The geographic spread runs from Edinburgh to Falmouth, encompassing prestigious London colleges like King’s and Imperial. A significant number opt for art and design programs, while others venture abroad to institutions such as the University of Arizona or IE Madrid in Spain.

Notable Alumni

Among Oratory School’s alumni, actor Jonathan Bailey gained recognition through the series Bridgerton, while rugby player Danny Cipriani represented England internationally. Ed Conway serves as Sky News’s economics editor, covering the nation’s key financial developments, and composer Michael Berkeley received a life peerage for his contributions to British musical culture.
