Admission

Age Categories

Oratory School opens its doors to students at three key moments: ages 11, 13, and 16. The most straightforward route starts at 11+, where candidates sit their assessments in January and receive decisions within a fortnight. Those who choose the 13+ pathway embark on a two-year journey—beginning with the ISEB Common Pre-Test in Year 6, followed by interviews and a conditional offer that becomes final only after passing the Common Entrance exam in June of Year 8.

Selection Procedures

The heart of admission lies in Assessment Day, where the school gauges each candidate through CAT tests, English and mathematics exams, and collaborative exercises that reveal how naturally they work alongside others. For those applying at 16, the process shifts to online CAT tests in autumn, leadership interviews, and conditional offers requiring at least Grade 4 in English and mathematics at GCSE, with Grade 6 needed for their chosen A Level subjects.

Scholarships and Support

Each year, Oratory School recognizes exceptional talent across six domains: academic excellence, sports, art, drama, music, and the All Rounder category for versatile students. Beyond financial relief, these awards carry distinction—the school values outstanding abilities and commits to nurturing them. While sports scholarship assessments happen in autumn of Year 8, other examinations take place in spring, with 16+ applicants tested in their two selected subjects.

Financial Conditions at Oratory School

Registration costs £180 for UK families and £300 for international applicants. Once offered a place, families pay a deposit—£1,200 for British and European households, or a full term’s fees for students from elsewhere, refundable upon graduation. Annual boarding fees for 2025-26 stand at £12,003 per term for Years 7-8 and £17,760 for Years 9-13, covering lessons, meals, healthcare, sports, and campus facilities. EAL sessions, exam fees, and specialist activities like clay shooting or Real Tennis require separate payment.
