Duke of Edinburgh Award

Queenswood School offers the Duke of Edinburgh program for senior students. It includes adventures in scenic locations such as the Chiltern Hills, Peak District, Wye Valley, Scottish Highlands, and international destinations. Participants develop across various areas, contributing to well-rounded personal growth. The program at Queenswood School consists of three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

Volunteering at Queenswood School

The program includes volunteer work, allowing students to contribute to community life while developing personal skills. They can run clubs, assist in the library, or participate in charity initiatives. This provides an excellent opportunity to discover more about their abilities and help others. Additionally, volunteering fosters leadership qualities and responsibility. Students gain valuable experience that will prove useful in their future careers.

Skills

The program enables development of new skills. Participants study public speaking, drama, learn musical instruments, or cooking. Sports mentoring at Queenswood School and online courses through the DofE website are also available. This helps them become more well-rounded and open to new experiences. And broadens their horizons. The program promotes personal growth and confidence in their abilities.

Expeditions at Queenswood School

Students participate in expeditions, which form an essential part of the program. They complete challenging routes, engage in hiking and activities such as canoeing, horse riding, and swimming. These events strengthen teamwork and develop leadership qualities. And contribute to improved physical fitness. Participation in expeditions also helps students overcome their fears and step outside their comfort zones.

International Connections

The school actively develops international connections. Over thirty nationalities are represented at Queenswood School, enriching cultural diversity. Partnerships with schools in Japan and Botswana enable support for important community projects. Local volunteering includes assistance to children’s homes and leisure centers for the elderly.

Events at Queenswood School

The school hosts various events, such as charity quizzes supporting global projects. Such occasions are always accompanied by a warm atmosphere and dinner. They help create a spirit of unity among students and parents, while also serving as a platform for exchanging ideas and collaboration. And this is just one example of such community building.
