Boarding Principles
The boarding experience is built on friendship and fun—these elements create an atmosphere where girls feel comfortable living and developing. Here they learn independence and communication while supporting one another. Queenswood offers plenty of opportunities to form lifelong connections, with flexible arrangements including day, two-day, three-day, full, and weekly boarding options making the choice even easier.
Queenswood School Heritage
Since the late 70s and 80s, boarding schools have transformed significantly. They’ve become more comfortable and supportive compared to the strict conditions of the past. Modern Queenswood buildings provide cozy bedrooms, improved dining, and personal spaces that create the homely atmosphere needed for relaxation. Enhanced support from staff and medical professionals ensures better attention to each girl’s needs.
Boarding for Years 7-8
Girls in Years 7 and 8 live in Stamp House, which offers welcoming conditions for 48 students. This eases the transition from primary to secondary school at Queenswood. The focus is on social connections, where girls have opportunities to make new friends and participate in charitable activities. Three resident staff members provide pastoral care throughout the day and evening, helping create a comfortable environment.
Boarding (Years 9-11) at Queenswood School
The boarding house for Years 9-11 sits at the heart of campus. In Years 9 and 10, girls share bedrooms, while Year 11 students receive individual rooms for exam preparation. Facilities include a cinema, music room, and cooking areas accessible to both boarders and day students. These spaces encourage comfortable leisure time and studying.
Sixth Form Boarding
Most Sixth Form students choose boarding life because of the intensive academic process. Lower Sixth accommodation includes shared or single bedrooms, while Upper Sixth offers only single rooms. Communal kitchens and common rooms provide opportunities for socializing and studying together. The Bellman Sixth Form Centre becomes the hub for academics and social activity, supporting balance between studies and relaxation.
