Care for Everyone

Ratcliffe College takes pride in its ISI-recognised pastoral care system, which centres on individual attention for each student. The deputy head, heads of year, and form tutors share this responsibility, while a lay chaplain and chaplaincy team uphold the school’s values and support everyone in the community. Senior students mentor younger ones, and dedicated counsellors along with nurses watch over everyone’s wellbeing.

Early Education at Ratcliffe College

The youngest learners, aged three to five, enjoy a rich curriculum at Ratcliffe College. They’re divided into Cygnets (3-4 years) and Swans (4-5 years), which allows teachers to tailor their approach to each age group’s needs. Specialist instructors lead sessions in music, PE and French, adding depth to what children experience. Hands-on activities encourage exploration and creative thinking throughout.

Prep School

At Ratcliffe College, the prep school occupies a modern building where classrooms surround a welcoming courtyard. Small class sizes mean teachers can give genuine attention to every child, helping them discover excitement in learning across various subjects. Beyond formal lessons, enrichment activities play a significant role in development, nurturing curiosity and critical thinking. Pastoral care weaves through everything, creating a friendly community where children feel both happy and secure.

Senior School

The senior school at Ratcliffe College balances academics with enrichment and pastoral support, making the transition from Year 6 smooth and natural. Students encounter age-appropriate challenges that let them develop unique talents both during lessons and beyond. Teachers aim to instil genuine enthusiasm for knowledge through engaging work and encouragement, all within an open Christian atmosphere. Days are structured around six 55-minute periods, with breaks and lunch served in the dining hall.

INSPIRE Programme

Throughout the year, the INSPIRE programme at Ratcliffe College broadens students’ horizons through guest lectures, clubs, sports, creative projects, volunteering opportunities and trips. These experiences extend far beyond classroom walls, helping young people develop new skills and interests while deepening what they already know. It’s a comprehensive approach that shapes well-rounded individuals ready for diverse challenges ahead.

Student Leadership

When they reach Sixth Form, students at Ratcliffe take on leadership roles that allow them to make meaningful contributions to their community. These positions develop responsible individuals prepared to tackle real-world challenges, while significantly strengthening the sense of togetherness across the college. The result is an atmosphere where support and mutual respect flourish naturally.
