Secondary Education Pathways
International students can follow either a traditional two-year GCSE route covering ten subjects—sciences, mathematics, English, plus electives—or pursue an accelerated one-year IGCSE if they demonstrate strong academic capability. The intensive option condenses core subjects into twelve months while adding three additional disciplines, which proves particularly useful for those rejoining European education systems after studying elsewhere.
Sixth Form at Rendcomb College
The upper years offer twenty-one A-Level subjects alongside BTEC qualifications in business or tourism, with students beginning on four disciplines before narrowing to three. Beyond examinations, they complete an Extended Project Qualification and earn their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award—preparation that saw 95% of 2024 graduates accepted by their first-choice universities, including Oxford, Bristol, and Imperial College. Twice annually, sixth formers spend a week living independently in separate accommodation on campus.
English Language Studies
Every international student here receives tailored English instruction, with intensity determined by an Oxford placement test that leads them through PET, FCE, and IGCSE ESL certifications. Those in sixth form prepare for IELTS, retaking it each term until they achieve scores that reflect genuine fluency rather than mere paper qualifications. Experienced teachers work with them in a dedicated language center throughout this progression.
Supporting American Families
Children of military personnel from nearby bases maintain their connection to U.S. education while benefiting from what the College offers. They prepare for SAT and ACT examinations—with transport to testing centers and preparatory courses provided—while their GCSE subjects simultaneously count toward American diploma requirements. The support extends to covering textbooks, trips, and exam fees, and the community celebrates Thanksgiving together each year.
