Admission

Main Admission Stages

The enrollment process gives families time to navigate requirements without pressure. It begins with a campus tour where parents and prospective students meet staff and explore facilities, forming their initial impression. Once a family decides to apply, the admissions team assists with paperwork and schedules assessment—available both in-person and online. Qualified educators evaluate not just academic abilities but overall development. If results meet expectations, an official offer arrives, requiring deposit payment and contract signing within two weeks.

Application Deadlines and Year Group Placement

Most year groups accept students at the start of any trimester, with mid-term entry occasionally possible. However, Year 11 and Year 13 remain closed to newcomers since these mark the midpoint of two-year IGCSE and A Level programs. Applying at least two terms ahead is recommended, as waiting lists exist and early submission significantly improves chances. Age alone determines placement, regardless of prior curriculum or perceived talent. Rugby School Thailand uses setting within year groups to tailor teaching, helping each student reach their potential more fully than rigid systems allow.

Candidate Assessment at Rugby School Thailand

For Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception (ages 2–4), teachers observe children individually or in small groups, checking speech and development against age norms before discussing observations with parents. In Years 1–2 (ages 5–6), a teacher assesses social skills, literacy, numeracy, and reasoning individually, considering school reports from the application. From Years 3–8 (ages 7–12), standardized cognitive tests cover literacy, mathematics, and analytical thinking, followed by a head-of-school conversation about interests and character. For Years 9–12 (ages 13–16), formal exam results like IGCSE or subject-specific assessments supplement testing, with interviews conducted by senior educators. Additional evaluation—such as English proficiency checks—occurs when necessary to understand readiness accurately.

Flexible Arrangements and Family Support

Rugby School Thailand accommodates international families by offering online assessment, though in-person meetings provide richer insight. The institution recognizes that not all children arrive with strong English, so evaluation determines current language skills and identifies appropriate support. Boarding options include full (up to seven nights), weekly (up to five nights), or flexi (up to three nights), allowing families to choose arrangements that suit their circumstances and routines best.
