Boarding

Three Houses for Different Ages

The boarding facilities span three modern buildings, each designed around its residents’ developmental stage. Marshall House welcomes younger pupils aged 10-12, with separate wings for boys and girls to ensure comfort during their initial steps toward independence. Older teenagers are divided by gender: girls aged 13-18 reside in Rupert Brooke, while boys of the same age occupy School House. Around 200 students live on campus—45% international, 55% Thai—with many local families choosing boarding to escape Bangkok traffic and embrace the countryside setting.

Flexible Living Formats

Three arrangements accommodate different family schedules. Full boarding (chosen by roughly 25% of pupils, including international students) allows seven nights weekly with complete access to campus life and weekend programming. Weekly boarding suits 65% of residents who stay Sunday through Friday—particularly convenient for Bangkok-area families. Flex boarding targets those within an hour’s drive: students remain three nights (typically Tuesday-Thursday), reducing commute time while gradually building autonomy. This format often serves as a stepping stone before committing to weekly stays.

Daily Schedule at Rugby School Thailand

Mornings begin around 6:45, with some pupils fitting in sports or music before communal breakfast. Classes run from 8 AM to 6 PM, followed by dinner and free time for pursuits ranging from athletics to creative projects. Students in Year 9 and above dedicate structured hours to homework after 8 PM, while younger children engage in developmental activities from 6:30-7:30 before reading until 9 PM lights-out. A pastoral care system ensures house staff maintain close contact with families, allowing calls home anytime. Older students access phones freely; younger ones use devices twice weekly, encouraging face-to-face connections.

Weekends and Holidays

Saturdays launch with enrichment programming—rock climbing, arts, and other activities included at no extra cost. Afternoon shopping trips give way to Sunday excursions: wakeboarding, pizza-making workshops, laser tag. Typically 50 boarders remain, though numbers fluctuate with sporting fixtures. Long holidays see everyone depart, while twice-termly “exeats” provide extended weekends when campus closes. Students generally return the evening before classes resume, between 6-8 PM, though arrangements with house staff allow morning arrivals for families traveling from afar.
