House System

Upon joining Saint Felix School, each student becomes part of one of four houses—Kay (yellow), Pemberton (red), Rowell (green), or Edmond (blue)—all named after distinguished alumni who excelled in sports, medicine, and public service. Throughout the year, students compete for the gleaming inter-house shield through both academic and extracurricular activities. Two signature events bring everyone together: House Scramble, where participants range from nursery children to sixth formers in a school-wide race, and House Shout, a spirited performance competition that thrives on team energy and supporter enthusiasm. These traditions foster cross-age friendships while strengthening community bonds.

Daily Schedule at Saint Felix School

The day unfolds differently across age groups. Nursery students begin at 8:00 with outdoor play and activities, while junior pupils start lessons at 8:35, typically attending six periods. Senior students supplement their classes with house meetings, tutor sessions, and Friday chapel services. Boarders rise at 7:00 for house assemblies before breakfast, then complete homework in their residences from 19:00 onwards. Lights-out varies by age—younger students retire at 21:00, Year 9 at 21:30, and senior years at 22:00—after which the houses settle into quiet.

Weekends

Saturdays and Sundays follow a more relaxed rhythm for boarders. Brunch is served at 11:00, followed by excursions or town visits, with afternoon activities woven into the schedule. Everyone gathers for chapel service at 17:30. Sunday supper at 18:00, known as Social Sunday, offers an informal atmosphere where students unwind and connect before the week ahead. This balance between structure and leisure helps them recharge while maintaining community ties.

Services

Saint Felix School operates daily bus routes within a 25-mile radius, serving Lowestoft, Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth, and Woodbridge. Weekly boarders benefit from a dedicated service that collects them on Sunday afternoons and returns them home on Fridays. The parent committee plays a vital role, raising funds through events and supporting various initiatives. Recent contributions have included a video camera for the drama department, sports equipment, a play area for Clough, forest school resources, and the start-up fee for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme.
