Why Sherfield School

Diploma Programme

Alongside traditional British qualifications, Sherfield School offers the International Advanced Diploma, which was developed with the University of Melbourne to blend academic rigor with real-world competencies like critical thinking and teamwork. Through partnerships with Yale, Durham, and Institut Villars, senior students attend mentoring sessions and university-level workshops that build a digital skills portfolio—something that strengthens both university applications and early career prospects beyond what grades alone can achieve.

Sports Academies at Sherfield School

The campus includes Sherfield Oaks, an 18-hole golf club where students train up to four times weekly with professional coaches before returning by shuttle for morning lessons. Tennis follows a similarly structured approach: the academy runs under a national association senior coach and spans three levels, culminating in ten hours of weekly play for advanced participants. Both programmes integrate into the timetable and send competitors to national and international tournaments throughout the year.

Historic Estate

Buckfield Manor, the main building dating from 1870, holds listed status and incorporates bricks salvaged from a sixteenth-century Tudor house. Italian craftsmen carved its staircase on-site, while the ornate ceiling plasterwork reportedly came from Florence. The 76-acre estate surrounds the manor with woodland, meadows, a Victorian garden, and a working farm where students care for animals—all supported by a conservation partnership endorsed by Sir David Attenborough to weave nature into daily lessons.

Education in Motion International Network

Sherfield School belongs to Education in Motion, a global network connecting over 11,000 pupils across continents. This membership opens doors to conferences, exchanges, and collaborative projects with schools throughout Asia and Europe, while senior prefects travel to Seoul and Shanghai for leadership summits. Students can also volunteer in Peru, India, or Zanzibar, visit U.S. universities, and earn credentials such as WWF environmental leadership diplomas or applied finance certificates—all woven into the curriculum rather than offered as extras.
