Location and Infrastructure

Shiplake College takes up 47 acres next to the Thames, just 4 km from Henley-on-Thames. At the campus center sits Shiplake Court—a Victorian mansion from 1890 encircled by gardens and contemporary structures. The 2014 John Turner Building holds Music, Art, and Learning Development departments, along with a Thinking Space where students collaborate on team projects and digital learning.

Academic Facilities

Each structure at Shiplake serves its role. Skipwith House receives day students, while Lower School and the girls’ residential house Gilson have been functioning since 2009. College House provides sixth formers space to develop independence. Goodwin and Bevan Buildings house most teaching departments with properly equipped classrooms. Creative disciplines receive particular focus: Stableyard houses Business, Drama, Media, and Careers departments, while the Barn theatre presents dramatic performances.

With multiple residential houses available, Shiplake gives full, weekly, and flexible accommodation options. Full residents enjoy comfortable rooms they can personalize to match their preferences, experiencing both independence and community life.

Flexible accommodation lets students stay up to two nights per week at reduced rates—ideal for families with varying requirements. Around 5% of residents come from abroad, which helps everyone build independence and social skills.

Student Care

The school runs a five-house system that students join from Year 9. Each house has a housemaster, and regular pastoral care sessions ensure student wellbeing. Shiplake provides individual attention to each student, maintaining open communication with parents through regular reports and conferences.

School Facilities

Residents access all campus amenities. Shiplake provides extensive sports facilities, with fully equipped cardio and weight training gyms. The grounds feature three large sports fields with quality surfaces, a contemporary cricket pavilion, and a versatile sports facility. The Astroturf pitch stands out, beside the Davies Boat Centre, which opened in 2020 and provides professional conditions for water sports.
