Structure of Programs

St Edmund’s College enrolls 870 students aged 3 to 19, organizing their education across three distinct stages. The preparatory school follows the National Curriculum for children from 3 to 11, after which international pathways become available, allowing students to pursue globally recognized qualifications alongside traditional British programs.

Learning stages:

  • Prep (3–11 years): National Curriculum — Pre-Prep, Forms 1–6
  • College (11–16 years):
  • Elements–Grammar (grades 7–9) — Key Stage 3
  • Syntax–Poetry (grades 10–11) — GCSE, IGCSE
  • Sixth Form (16–18 years): Rhetoric I–II (grades 12–13) — A Level, CTEC, EPQ

High Performance Learning Methodology

Since May 2024, St Edmund’s College has joined HPL World Class Schools, implementing Professor Deborah Eyre’s methodology rooted in four decades of Oxford research. High Performance Learning cultivates not just academic skills but meta-thinking—the ability to plan strategies, regulate one’s learning, and build intellectual confidence while developing empathy, persistence, and willingness to take risks through analytical and creative approaches.

Personal Support at St Edmund’s College

Every student receives personalized guidance from tutors and house coordinators who regularly assess progress and align individual goals. The school maintains open dialogue focused on developing each teenager’s strengths. Additionally, 87 students for whom English is an additional language receive specialized EAL support, progressing from minimum level A2 in grade 7 to B2.2 by senior school through Password testing.

Catholic Foundation of Education

St Edmund’s College teaches religion through the Source to Summit program, covering topics from Creation to interfaith dialogue aligned with the Catechism. Since September 2025, the course fully corresponds to the Religious Education Directory, connecting theology with contemporary challenges. Students explore Christ’s life and resurrection through conscience, forgiveness, and environmental stewardship, while educational visits include Westminster Cathedral, Hindu temple, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Jewish synagogue, with resident priest Father Peter Lyness participating in discussions.
