Boarding Arrangement

St. Francis’ College welcomes girls to board from sixth grade (age 10+), offering flexible arrangements—full, weekly, or flexi-boarding—so families can choose what suits them best. Younger students share dormitories, which helps them bond quickly, while senior girls enjoy individual rooms that feel almost collegiate, perfect for focused exam preparation. The boarding house occupies the main building’s top two floors, meaning everything—dining hall, library, chapel—stays under one roof, creating a genuine home atmosphere where girls never need to step outside.

Rooms and Spaces at St. Francis’ College

A spacious game room serves as the social heart, stocked with board games, Netflix and Disney+, books, and craft supplies. Movie nights happen regularly here—girls gather after lessons over popcorn and hot chocolate to chat and unwind. The weekly schedule brings creative workshops (art, baking in the school kitchen), a new Book Club with discussions over warm drinks, fashion contests using recycled materials themed around topics like “Space” or “Television,” plus music clubs, sports sections, and Boarders’ Bake Off—a baking competition where girls showcase their culinary skills.

Care for Students

A boarding director leads the house with support from academic tutors, who monitor each student’s progress and coordinate with teachers. The entire staff holds first-aid training and can dispense medication when needed. For emotional support, an independent listener and counseling psychologist are available—students can approach them confidentially about any concerns. Importantly, St. Francis’ College maintains an English-speaking environment, which helps international students master the language naturally while feeling part of the community.

Leisure and Weekends

Approximately every two weeks, St. Francis’ College arranges mandatory outings for younger full boarders (seniors join voluntarily). Favorite destinations include London museums and galleries, shopping at Oxford Circus, ice skating at Alexandra Palace, Brighton beaches, and walks through university-town Cambridge. Other adventures feature theme parks with roller coasters, a ceramic studio in Hitchin, bowling with staff, and the Winter Wonderland Christmas market. These trips create lasting memories and strengthen bonds between boarding students.
