Atmosphere and Philosophy
St. Francis’ College builds its community around the DREAMS values—determination, resilience, empowerment, aspiration, motivation, and safety. These principles shape daily interactions, from lessons to conversations with mentors, while small classes allow teachers to know each student’s strengths and aspirations personally. Newcomers receive support through a buddy system, and anyone facing challenges can turn to their tutor, school psychologist, or an independent counselor.
St. Francis’ College House System
Four houses—Artemis, Athene, Hera, and Selene—unite students across all year groups, creating a mentoring culture where sixth-formers serve as captains and organize events alongside house tutors. Competition spans diverse activities: House Bake Off, swimming regattas, debates, science quizzes, netball tournaments, and music festivals. Students earn points for quality work, behavior, and care for others, with the year’s champion claiming the Keneally Cup.
Wellbeing Support
Two tutors accompany each group, ensuring personal attention and space to discuss any difficulties that arise. The Personal Development program runs weekly, teaching emotional management and mental health protection—skills that extend far beyond these walls. Staff participate in events alongside students, transforming competitions into genuine celebrations, while the school council and eco-committee give voices to those who want to shape daily life and drive meaningful change.
Traditions and Charity
Each summer brings Five Star Week—a program of trips and activities outside the regular curriculum, from excursions to creative workshops that students choose themselves. The community actively supports charities including Prostate Cancer UK, Alzheimer’s Society, UN World Food Programme, with the Kanyike Project in Uganda receiving all proceeds from the Recycled Fashion Show. Every two years, sixth-formers and staff visit the project to witness their impact firsthand.
